GBMKasama Central Member of Parliament Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba says he will re-contest his seat in the 2016 general elections.

While it is not clear whether he will contest on the ruling party ticket or any other party Mwamba said he is confident the people of Kasama will give him another mandate.

Mwamba has fallen out with his party the Patriotic Front after he resigned his position as Defence Minister for maintaining a cordial relationship with Paramount Chief Chitimukulu who has been at variance with President Sata.

President Sata had a fit of anger asked Mwamba to choose between associating with the Chitimukulu designate or relinquish his position as Defence Minister to which he chose the former.

Mwamba has since faced harassment at the hands of the PF establishment with some business contracts with government dried out while the party has also expelled although he has challenged the decision in the Lusaka High Court.

“I have no doubt the people of Kasama will give me another mandate but I will never impose myself on them if they say they no longer want me,” Mwamba said.

Kasama is warming to political activity with businessman Kelvin Sampa on the loose distributing gifts to public institutions as he lays ground for contesting under the ruling party ticket.
