The following statement was issued by Alliance for Better Zambia:

The Statement by our Acting President Hon. Wynter Kabimba, who is also Justice Minister, that the Zambia Government does not need to get permission from Chiefs or anyone to acquire land is an insult and disrespectful to all our traditional leaders in the Country and must be tolerated by all well-meaning peace loving Zambians.

ABZ says that the Acting President whose secret ambitious plans is to be a Zambian President with his national Party tours which he has framed as Party mobilisation tours and while just on acting capacity is so excited and already drunk with presidential powers such that he has already started insulting and disrespecting our traditional leaders before becoming a Republican President. Such leaders are a danger to the nation if given such an opportunity to manage the affairs of this country because before they have full powers their acts have already been seen of dominating power and going off the road to development and bring disunity in the Country.

It is unfortunate that this PF Government think they own Zambia just because they are the ones in power. This ‘Boma Ni Boma’ mentality has to came to end because the land in our Country is not for the PF Government, but for the people of Zambia.

The Government needs to get permission from traditional leaders to acquire land. Even though the law says all land is vested in the name of the President on behalf of the people, Chiefs are the owners and custodians of our land from time in memorial and deserve to be respected when it comes to issues of land in their respective Chiefdoms.

Governments will come and go, but Chiefdoms will always be there, hence the need to respect traditional leaders.

Therefore ABZ demands that Acting President, Hon. Kabimba apologise for his statement because his words are undermining the powers of our traditional Leaders in the Country who will hold dearly. Already since coming to power just within 3yrs the PF Government has created anarchy with the Bemba’s over the throne of the Chitimukulu and now our Acting president wants to create more anarchy with traditional leaders across the Country.

We urge all the traditional leaders in the country not to take the statement by Our Acting President Hon Kabimba seriously because he is just talking without knowing what he is saying and treat the statement that is coming from our Acting Head Of State as someone who is just excited with his current position of Acting President.

ABZ would also like to challenge PF Government to tell the Nation why this Government likes involving themselves in traditional affairs. The PF should not forget that these traditional leaders are leaders who must be respected by everyone including the PF themselves.

We urge the PF Leaderships to be extremely careful with the words and actions being meted out especially on traditional leaders because they will need and knee for them in 2016 during campaigns.

Hon. Kabimba should not misuse the temporary Presidential powers but should be a platform to show us that if he was to be President what can he do and what he is made of.
