McDonald_Chipenzi-The newly formed Electoral Alliance of civil society organizations says it will meet opposition political parties to seek areas of mutual interest ahead of the 2016 general elections.

Alliance spokesperson MacDonald Chipenzi said they will meet the political parties to explain to them the mandate of the newly formed body that comprise six long standing civil society heavyweights.

The alliance members are the Southern African Centre for the
Constructive Resolution of Disputes, Zambia National Women’s Lobby Group, the Foundation for Democratic Process, Operation Young Vote and the Media Institute of Southern Africa.

Chipenzi said the alliance will spread its work across the provinces as they lay the ground for electoral and civic education activities.

“Very soon we will be meeting political parties to explain to them our mandate. It is good that some are already coming out in the open to raise concern,” he said.

Last week, opposition MMD raised red flag with the presence of a PF aligned CSO on the alliance board.
