Kabwata Member of Parliament Given Lubinda may have a bigger problem on his hands following reports that his adversaries in the Patriotic Front are fanning possible challengers to unseat him in party primaries ahead of the 2016 general elections.
Lubinda, who has had to move in to respond to the aggression of aspiring candidate Clement Tembo, who is eyeing the Kabwata seat in the 2016 elections, will have to deal with shadowy backers of his opponents.
Tembo has gone full throttle splashing money and campaign materials way before elections are due to be held.
The Tembo factor has put even government institutions like the Lusaka City Council and the Electoral Commission in a quandary as it is not clear where he is drawing his muscle from.
Tembo has stirred controversy after having rented a garbage truck from the council to clear garbage in Kabwata with some residents expressing mixed feelings.
The Lusaka City Council and the Electoral Commission of Zambia have all sidestepped the matter choosing to tread on safer zones and not face off to giving a clear position.
