Former Movement for Multiparty Democracy vice president Brian Chituwo has joined his colleague Michael Kaingu in pledging loyalty to the Nevers Mumba leadership.
Chituwo and four other high ranking officials were stripped of the leadership positions after their scheme to strike a back door partnership with the ruling Patriotic Front was exposed.
However, barely a week after Kaingu struck a conciliatory tone, Chituwo has also followed suit and pledged his total support to the former ruling party.
He said that despite being relegated to an ordinary member, he would contribute in any way to help the MMD grow.
“People have said a lot of things maybe it because of the high profile visible role that I used to have as vice president. So their perception probably is correct but it is in the context of the position I hold in the party,” Chituwo said.
“I am an ordinary party member. If there is a role I can play to make MMD stronger at my level as an ordinary member I will.”
He said: “I am here to support the party regardless of what happened and will support the leadership.”
The storm seems to have quietened after turbulent times that threatened to wreck the former ruling party.
