The Zambia Police seems to be gnawed by their suspicious closure of the assault case involving Democratic Republic of Congo rumba king Koffi Olomide by saying they are ready to re-open the case if the complainant approaches them again.
Earlier in the week police Public Relations Officer Munganga Chanda announced that the case had been closed as there was no collaboration between the complainant photojournalist Jean Mandela and the police.
Olomide kicked photojournalist in the face last time he was in the country with the journalist reporting the matter to the police amidst much publicity with Chanda then announcing that an arrest warrant had been issued after Mandela had duly reported the matter and submitted a medical report.
However, with the rumba king due in the country next week for a series of shows, the police moved in to pour cold water on any possibility of arresting Olomide by laying the blame on Mandela.
Olomide and his promoters have attempted to dilute the damage done by the musician’s alleged violent act by filming an apology that is running alongside the adverts.
Mandela, a Zambian of Rwanda origin is determined to see the case to its logical conclusion.
