hakainde-hichilema-zambia-reportsOpposition United Party for National Development (UPND) president Hakainde Hichilema says the Legal and Justice Sector Reforms Commission that begun its public hearings is a waste of time without a new constitution.

Hichilema says this is because the foundation of the Legal and Justice Sector Reforms Commission should have been based on a sound and strong constitution.

He says it is on this basis that he thinks by allowing the said commission to begin its hearings before the enactment of the country’s new supreme law, he suspects that the Patriotic Front (PF) government is only trying to divert people’s fight for a new constitution.

The UPND leader further notes that this is also why he thinks the commission is another waste of taxpayers’ money.

The Opposition Zambians for Empowerment and Development (ZED) president Frederick Mutesa has also shared the same view that the exercise that is being done by the Legal and Justice Sector Reforms Commission may not be the right way of using taxpayers’ money as he thinks its work will have to be repeated if eventually the country’s new constitution is enacted.
