Alliance for a Better Zambia president Father Frank Bwalya has dismissed Justice Minister Wynter Kabimba’s claim that educated people and elite people were trying to hijack the constitution making process.
Fr Bwalya said instead of playing the blame game, Kabimba and his team should just honour their promise to the Zambian people that they will deliver the constitution in 90 days.
He said Kabimba could do better to address the laid concerns instead of ducking responsibility.

ALLIANCE FOR BETTER ZAMBIA – ABZ
PRESS STATEMENT
AUGUST 4, 2014.
The statement by Justice Minister Wynter Kabimba that educated people and the elite are trying to hijack the constitution making process should be dismissed with the contempt and scorn it deserves. It is a statement coming from a bunch of liars who have failed to honour one of their own key election promises.
Even illiterate Zambians know that the Patriotic Front (PF) promised to deliver a people driven constitution in 90 days. They know that the PF condemned the Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) for wasting public resources on the National Constitution Conference (NCC) and for disregarding the wishes of the people in the constitution making process.
Above all, Zambians know that PF promise to deliver a people driven constitution in a cost effective and expedient manner. To the contrary PF has refused to honour their promise hence projecting themselves as dishonest and untrustworthy.
Hence, the misguided statement by Mr Wynter Kabimba who is also PF Secretary General is seen in the light of the foregoing background. What Mr Kabimba and his friends in PF needs to know is that the only cure for the current constitution impasse lies in PF respecting the will of the people as captured by the Technical Committee on Drafting the new Republic Constitution. There is no way out for PF other than respecting the wishes of the people and honouring their own election promise.
We know that Mr Kabimba and a few in PF have been trying to drive a wedge between the people who have been demanding for a people driven constitution and stakeholders who have been championing the cause of the people. But we are not worried about this futile attempt because we know that Zambians have seen through the cheap lies of PF. Our people know very well that it is PF themselves who have hijacked the constitution making process in a very dull manner characterized by cheap lies such as losing the final report of the Technical Committee let alone describing demands for a people driven constitution as yapping.
Therefore, our advice to Mr. Kabimba and PF remains the same that they should be honest and honour their promise. Anything short of this is spiteful.
Fr. Frank Bwalya
