United Party for National Development president Hakainde Hichilema struck the irony of Vice President Guy Scott representing President Michael Sata at the United States Africa Heads of State summit when he never stands for him locally.
Hichilema said that while Scott was fast becoming a clown, he was a better emissary than President Sata.
President Sata has yet to grace a public event since his appearance on May, 25 during the Africa Freedom Day celebrations when his frail looking frame ignited public debate.
“A man who cannot act as President here when the President is out is the one representing us in America, but you have also seen Guy Scott, he is drifting into a worse joker now,” Hichilema said.
“You can imagine what he will be doing in those rooms on the international platform.”
He said that Zambians may be relieved that it was not President Sata representing them as he had usually embarrassed them at international forums.
“On the other hand I am happy the President is not going there, because he used to embarrass us,” Hichilema said.
“So all we can say, let us wait until proper leadership comes in that is when we can craft a diligent and deliberate relationship with the US.”
