Rights activist Brebner Changala says President Michael Sata should step down if he has failed to handle the pressure of public office.
Changala said if President Sata wanted to continue hibernating from the Zambian people, he was better off receding to being a private citizen.
He said it was not normal for a Head of State to stay away from his citizens for two months and still retain some respect among the electorates.
“President Sata should consider retiring since it appears he has failed to run the country. Let him be a private citizen so that no one will bother him,” he said.
“Look at Enock Kavindele, look at Grey Zulu no one pushes them to speak because they are private citizens, so if President does not want to be bothered about speaking to the public let him retire and be a private citizen.
President Sata has continued staying away from the public and also shunned public responsibilities like attending international conferences, chairing cabinet meetings and his favourite pass time ritual of swearing-in officials at State House.
