Nominations in five parliamentary by-elections have closed with political parties warming up to the September, 11 polls.
The MMD whose five seats had been a subject of contentions for over a year has managed to give the all clear to its candidates in the five seats to re-contest.
In Kasenengwa incumbent Victoria Kalima of the MMD will battle it out with Gideon Zulu (PF), Timothy Nyirenda (UPND) and Kobisa Daka (FDD).
The race for the Mkushi South seat will have the MMD’s Sydney Chisanga, UPND’s Agness Ng’andu and the ruling Patriotic Front will field Davies Chisopa.
In Vubwi constituency MMD’s Eustackio Kazonga will battle it out against the PF’s Margaret Miti, Lucas Phiri (UNIP), Charles Nyoka (FDD) and UPND’s Alfonso Phiri.
The race for Zambezi West has UPND’s Charles Kakoma, Chrsitabel Ng’imbu (PF), Kayombo Chila (Green Party), Chris Kachika (MMD) and Mark Kachongo (FDD).
In Solwezi Central Lucky Mulusa will battle it out against four other candidates Newton Malwa (PF) and UPND’s Dawson Kafwaya.
