Saudi Lesson: Renard Hopes for Singuluma Fire-power against Tanzania

After losing 2-1 to Saudi Arabia in a recent international friendly, Zambia coach Herve Renard is searching for more striking options and Democratic Republic of Congo-based Given Singuluma is one of the targets.

Zambia is preparing to defend the Africa Cup of Nations at the 2013 edition in South Africa with a series of friendlies that will include Morocco and Norway to set the tone of the team’s readiness.

On Sunday, Renard named a player he had not called to camp in nearly a year for assessment before the main team regroups later this month. Given Singuluma, the TP Mazembe, forward is expected to join a team comprising mostly local based players.

Singuluma alongside Kalililo Kakonje who missed the trip to Saudi Arabia will join camp this week to prepare for the international friendly as part of the 25 summoned.

Also in the team is China-based Isaac Chansa, James Chamanga and skipper Christopher Katongo.

Renard wants a much stronger team against Tanzania unlike the case was with Saudi Arabia in boost the team’s chances of winning the friendly and keep the morale and hopes high.

Zambia is in Group C with Nigeria, Burkina Faso and Ethiopia. The Chipolopolo is confident of getting over the group stage on the mission to defend the title.
