MMD spokesperson Dora Siliya says although the party is shocked with the resignation, his betrayal will be punished by the people of Mpongwe.
She told journalists today that the party has already started mobilizing itself to challenge PF in the Mpongwe by-election.
“We recognise that Namulambe has a right as an individual, at this point in time he has made a choice to join PF, we wish him well. As MMD we have started to mobilise ourselves for the by-election in Mpongwe. We believe that the people of Mpongwe will continue to identify themselves with MMD and they will show him just that. I want to believe that from now on, he will concentrate on PF matters, the new party that he has joined,” she said.
And Siliya said MMD members of parliament who wanted to join the PF should reflect seriously.
“It is their right to join any party at any particular time but I truly believe that they have to think very seriously and ask themselves that what role do they want to play in contributing to democracy? Do they want to kill democracy or they want to contribute? We have a responsibility to give confidence to the Zambians that there is somebody who is checking the government and speaking on their behalf,” she said.
