Namulambe-on-ConventionFormer Mpongwe member of parliament Gabriel Namulambe claims he understands the national budget better than online journalists criticising him for creating an unnecessary bye-election by defecting from MMD to the ruling PF.

Namulambe’s decision will cost the country in excess of K6 billion for elections in the next three months.

In response to critics that have branded Namulambe unreasonable and insenstive to the poor all for purposes of serving his selfish needs, Namulambe told his constituency at the weekend that he was better placed to understand financial issues.

Namulambe, a former council secretary whose highest academic qualification is a local government certificate from NIPA, accused online journalists particularly those from the Zambian Watchdog of attempting to decampaign him.

He said journalists were trying to show that the bye-election was a waste of tax payers when funds for such activities were budgeted for.

Namulambe said all elections in the country were catered for in the national budget.

The former MMD chairman for election resigned last week and was in the constituency – Mpongwe – where he wooed other supporters to start campaigns for the bye-elections.

Namulambe’s cross over from the back bench is in a bid to get a ministerial position so that he survives corruption allegations against him and as well as meet demands of his “belly.”
