Home affairs minister Edgar Lungu has advised the opposition to appeal to his office to look at the possibility of having a public rally this weekend.
Lungu said he is ready to strike a compromise if the opposition leaders can furnish him documentation that led to the rejection of a permit to hold a public rally in Lusaka’s Mtendere compound.
He said he has not seen any report on the opposition on their application to hold a public rally and that he was the final authority on whether to overrule the Zambia Police Service decision or not.
The five opposition political parties have been denied a permit to hold a political rally at the weekend.
