With a visible contest for a show of campaign muscle, Patriotic Front presidential candidate Edgar Lungu had his campaign narrowing on aeroplanes and campaign money that his main opponent United Party for National Development president Hakainde Hichilema has.
And popular local artiste Macky II has joined the Lungu campaign team weeks after leaving the Big Brother Africa show where he was Zambia’s flag carrier.
Addressing a rally in Petauke, Lungu said he had seen some of his opponents having several planes that may have been pledged by foreign elements that could be back to demand favours after the January 20 presidential elections.
He said Hichilema may have pledged to give away the mines to foreigners after winning power in the presidential elections.
Lungu was speaking his native language Nsenga that connected well with his audience.
He said he was running on thin resources but his backers had faith in him despite not having a lot of money.
