Alarming statements by HH and from his propaganda portal and I quote:
1). “It’s done; I am the winner of the January 20 Presidential elections. We have won this election already and no one should steal this election,” Said Hakainde Hichilema live on Hot FM last evening.
2). “The PF is prepared to rig these elections and then ask the real winner to go and argue in court which they know will be a waste of time,” HH’s propaganda portal wrote yesterday.
3). “Only dull people argue that we can’t run Govt under a PF budget”-HH
While ‘some’ of HH’s ideas and ridiculous promises could not be utopia, his language and sweeping statement as a candidate that, “I have already won the election” is irresponsible and dangerous as it undermines a critical component of good leadership if he has any as a candidate. HH need to show maturity, humility and truth in his politics no matter how desperate and unpredictable the race has become for him.
Such reckless statements are preparation of his followers to outrightly reject a popular choice of voters in this election except his victory. By doing so, he is rendering the ECZ supervised election an academic exercise in futility while making a prelude for anarchy in the country. We should guard against such inimical schemes. Is he trying to hold Zambian voters at gunpoint with its either me or hell?
No doubt this bye-election has become a 2 horse race, but PF is galvanizing its support bases very well. Making such statement that includes the calling of those who question your plans as “dull” only manifests pride and lack of servant leadership personality in a candidate. Zambian disdains such level of pride.
Free advice to HH: you need to sober up and learn to treasure humility now. The Black book is very clear on the need for humility. If he is truly a Christ follower other than a disciple of some foreign gods, he ought to know that humility in life is critical (Colossians 3:12). Start opening up to criticism and considering others as capable (Philippians. 2:3). This is the reason the Scripture also promises that God will exalt and give grace to the humble (Psalms 147:6 & James 4:10). Humility is to be a hallmark of good and credible leadership without which you cannot be favored by God and his followers.
It is no surprise that the candidacy of Edgar Lungu a fellow motto it has innately become one of the fastest growing people’s choices on the campaign trail despite making a latest entry against careerist politicians of 3-5 ballot attempts. EL’s candidacy has become electrifying to the common man across the country. People are seeing authentic traits of humility, meekness, realism in promises, temperament, endurance, stability, attainability, simplicity, inclusiveness and servant leadership.
The sooner politicians realize that Zambians are looking for effective institutions other than a demi-god who thinks for the country to move forward, its only with an individual reigning. Such is wrong because its Good constitution under a servant leadership presiding in policy formulation with an army of best brains of Zambian technocrats will move this country forward. Americans reject a celebrated Business executive and plutocrat in Romney for a simple and humble little known lawyer called Barack Obama. God will exalt and give grace to the humble. Campaign support will consequently follow them and country entrusted. Leadership is not a preserve of plutocrats only but those who win their fellow commoners.
This is why leadership remains a fine art, more of a balancing act of many different skills, personality traits and abilities developed over time and through experience. Running Government is not same as running a corporation, a fact Americans reminded Mitt Romney on the ballot. All said, one important piece of the leadership puzzle that HH needs public service is humility.
