UPND ConstitutionThe opposition UPND has insisted the constitution roadmap released yesterday was its own and not a stolen document from the Ministry of Justice as revealed by information minister Joseph Katema last night.

Below is a statement from UPND

Now they are claiming that we have stolen their road map for the constitution. Can you imagine they are even calling it ‘a serious breach’.

This is where we think differently from them. We dont see anything secret about a road map for the people’s constitution. A constitution road map must be in the public domain for stakeholders to familiarise themselves and comment on. This is why we have shared ours. If the people say they want something changed in that road map, we will gladly do so.

We do not have short memories like they do. When Garry Nkombo took a private member’s bill to parliament, what did they do. They egoistically trampled up on. And their clown Munkombwe took time to make comedy out of the whole process. Records are there.

Its only a few months ago when Edgar Lungu publicly stated that the government had no road map for the constitution. Instead he got the draft constitution (or what remained of it) and literally threw it at parliament saying it was the job of parliament to come up with a road map. These are the thieves and liars who are running the affairs of our country today.
