Police in Lusaka have arrested and charged former local government and housing deputy minister Moses Muteteka for theft of a motor vehicle.
Police deputy public relations officer Charity Munganga Chanda has confirmed the arrest of Muteteka who is also Chisamba member of parliament.
Chanda said Muteteka is alleged to have fraudulently and without reasonable excuse of lawful authority converted a Mitsubishi Canter registration number ABX 3529 valued at K75 million into a personal property, pretending that he had purchased it when in fact it had been a government vehicle.
She said the vehicle in question belonged to Chibombo District Council.
Muteteka has been released on Police bond and will appear in court on Monday August 20, 2012.
