Chilufya-TayaliZambian Voice executive director Chilufya Tayali says the arrest of former tourism minister Sylvia Masebo for abuse of authority is welcome.

Tayali is also calling for the review of the Trafigura saga in which Rainbow Party president Wynter Kabimba is implicated alongside businessman Rajan Mahtani of underhand deals in the procurement of crude oil to Zambia.

Below is Tayali’s statement

I followed the Masebo’s tribunal when Harrington petitioned for her investigations. Listening to the evidence submitted both by the petitioner and the respondents, I concluded Masebo over stepped her line in the way she fired top management at ZAWA and canceled the tender for hunting and concessions when she served as Tourism and Arts Minister.

Among the witnesses were Guy Scott whom I respect so much but this one, awe….Masebo must be tried by the Courts.

I know Edgar Lungu and his colleagues are selective in their application of Justice but what is wrong is wrong. Masebo was too overzealous with her Wynter Kabimba.

I wish the Trafigura saga can also be reopened so that Wynter Kabimba can also explain about Ilunda Chalo Ltd. The formation of that company and the awarding of the contract to Trafigura was very suspicious.

Yes Wynter was cleared but come’on after what he did at the ACC offices?

We should be serious with these issues, Zambia is so behind because of us ignoring such important issues.
