Drug Traffickers Nabbed in Ndola

The Drug Enforcement Commission has arrested a 14-year-old Zimbabwean national of Ndola for trafficking in 580 grams of loose cannabis and Paul Chibangu, 19, a Congolese national of Kasumbalesa for trafficking in 627grammes of loose cannabis.

In a statement released yesterday, DEC spokesperson Theresa Katongo stated that the commission has also arrested two young foreign nationals and 43 Zambians countrywide for trafficking in various quantities of cannabis.

she stated that in Northern Province, Vincent Nyalufuma, 28, a peasant farmer of Kapelanga Village in Zambezi had also been arrested for trafficking in loose cannabis weighing 13 kilograms and Regan Chanda, 25, a peasant farmer of Shata Village in Kasama had also been arrested for trafficking in loose cannabis weighing 4.1 kilograms.

“DEC has also arrested and jointly charged Pethias Simwinga, 28, a charcoal burner and his wife, Grace Namusokwe, 33, both of Kapepe Village in Mpulungu for trafficking in 5.5 kilograms of loose cannabis,” she stated.

Katongo further stated that in Central Province, the Commission had arrested and jointly charged Royda Chola, 32, a bar lady of Maganda Nyama Compound in Kabwe , Patricia Lengwe, 32, and Lloyd Phiri, 32, a Brick Moulder of the same abode for trafficking in loose cannabis weighing 13.7 kilograms.

Also arrested in Central Province, is Maclean Kachiza, 37, a peasant farmer of Mowa Village in Kabwe for trafficking in 7.4kg of loose cannabis and 15kg of cannabis seeds.
