Chief Government spokesperson Chishimba Kambwili has not backed down on his threat to have striking Copperbelt University lecturers fired if they do not go back to work.
Kambwili has given the lecturers up to Friday to go back to work face dismissal.
He said that those that defied the order should resign from their positions.
The standoff at the second highest learning institution was caused by the demand by members of the academic staff who want Vice Chancellor Professor Naison Ngoma to resign with some of his top management staff.
The standoff culminated into the indefinite closure of the institution that has seen students caught up in the impasse.
