Zambia’s High Court has granted opposition UPND a go-ahead to hold its first rally since the September 2011 election after last minute attempts by President Michael to stop the gathering.
State House ordered police to withdrawal the permit for the meeting which is expected to draw UPND members from various corners of the country based on flimsy grounds.
UPND rushed to court were they were granted relief to proceed with their meeting.
Party special advisor to its leader Hakainde Hichilema, Douglas Siakalima confirmed the development in an interview with local radio station Qfm.
Siakalima said the party was ready and advised its travelling members to turn out in huge numbers.
Police has sought to stop the meeting when they delivered a revocation letter late Thursday.
