Visiting Malawian President Peter Mutharika, who arrived in Lusaka on Friday visited the Presidential Burial site at Embassy Park and was accompanied by Foreign Affairs Permanent Secretary Lombe Chalwe and Justice Minister Dr. Ngosa Simbyakula.
Professor Mutharika laid wreaths in honor of Zambia’s fallen Presidents, Michael Sata, Levy Mwanawasa and Dr. Fredrick Chiluba.
Professor Mutharika also took time to sign the visitor’s book at the Embassy Park.
The President was received by Regional Director for East Central Heritage Conservation Kangosa Mwamulowe who also briefed Professor Mutharika on the construction of the late Frederick Chiluba’s mausoleum.
Professor Mutharika later visited first Zambia’s Republican President Dr. Kenneth Kaunda to pay a courtesy call on him before returning to his hotel room.
Whilst in Zambia, Professor Mutharika officially opened Zambia’s 89th Agriculture and Commercial Show under the theme “Innovation beyond Golden Jubilee. He left for Malawi later in the day.
