Irate residents descended on Ricky Mwiinga who became a victim of mob justice when people beat him with all kinds of objects while he was pinned on the ground.
Rickey, who was married with five children, was later rushed to the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Ricky’s mother, Mervis, was a distraught woman at the sight of a lifeless body of her son. She said it was sad that residents had decided to take the law in their own hands.
“It is painful for me as a mother. I was with him yesterday and I was just surprised to be told that he is dead,” she said.
But the residents have vowed to kill any suspected criminals in the area as a way of ridding the township of crime.
