guy-scott-zambiaVice-President Guy Scott sneaked in and out of Nelspruit, South Africa to avoid international media attention following Zambia’s poor performance at the Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa where the 2012 champions were eliminated in the first round.

Dr Scott witnessed the match between Zambia and Burkina Faso which ended goalless leading to Zambia’s exit on Tuesday night.

The country’s ceremonial Vice-President arrived on a charter unannounced and proceeded to watch the match but the fact that the Chipolopolo settled for a third match meant the PF could no longer take undue credit for Zambia’s soccer performance.

Last year, the PF leadership and their supporters claimed that they were behind the success of Chipolopolo Africa Cup win less five months after taking over power from the MMD.

But the PF can no longer brag about the Chipolopolo because the team’s embarrassing elimination without a win from the 2013 competition despite promises that they would give the players US $90, 000 each is an indictment to their claims.

Sources in Nelspruit tell Zambia Reports that the Vice-President was ashamed to make his presence effective after Chipolopolo were eliminated.

“There was nothing he was going to say. What more promises were they going to give the team? Yes, he met the players but it was on the low side,” the source said.

Vice-President Scott was one of the high ranking government officials that travelled to Gabon in February 2012 to witness Zambia’s first crowning of the Africa Cup of Nations.
