Government has warned commercial banks to refrain from practices that discourage customers.
Finance deputy minister Miles Sampa said the banking industry must exhibit the highest levels of professional conduct.
Sampa said the disappearance of money in customers’ accounts must be dealt with as a matter of urgency.
He said the recent reports of customers losing money through ATMs should be investigated then rectified as soon as possible.
Sampa also accused commercial banks of being the forces behind a devaluing rebased currency thereby creating uncertainty on the market.
