The Zambia Bureau of Standards (ZABS) has confiscated about 30 bales of second hand clothes that mainly comprised of underwear.
ZAB raided second hand traders in Lusaka for abrogating the law that govern such businesses.
ZAB representative David Kamatunga said officials pounced on unsuspecting traders some of whom were selling second hand underwear and this has infuriated the second hand traders.
“We are not going to relent in our effort to ensure that people that are breaking the law should be brought to book,” he said.
The ZABS has since urged second hand clothes traders to desist from that kind of business as they will always be crossing paths with the law.
However, most of the traders expressed ignorance with the law that forbids them from their kind of business.
