The Road Traffic and Safety Association wants to introduce video intelligence system on highways to monitor the behavior of motorists when on the road.
RATSA chief executive officer Zindaba Soko said this will be a short term measure to monitor the drivers on the roads.
“We want to monitor this driver behavior. We can’t be having these accidents because when we have these videos in place, we will be able to assist to save life. We have already started consulting and see how to proceed but definitely the duo carriage way is the way to go,” he said.
Soko said RATSA will work with the Road Development Agency to ensure that the safety components are put in place since the duo carriage is likely to cause the problem of speedy driving.
