Three people died in three separate incidents after being hit by motor vehicles yesterday.
Police Spokesperson Elizabeth Kanjela in a statement released today says in the first incident, Sydney Papape of CMML, Church Ndola had his head crashed by left tyres as he was disembarking from a Ford truck and trailer, registration number AJC 4727,AJC 4756T which was being driven by John Mwansa aged 41 of house number 2429 Lewanika road,Chingola.
Kanjela says the incident happened around 1650 hours along Ndola’s Chilanga road.
In a similar incident, an 84 year-old man died after being hit by a Toyota Hiace mini bus registration number ACT 2773 which was being driven by Benson Mwanza of Luanshya.
Kanjela says the incident happened in near the civic centre in Luanshya when the driver of the bus improperly overtook another minibus on the left side in the process hitting the cyclist who sustained fractured libs on both sides and a dislocated hip.
She has identified the victim as Harrison Mwendela of Mwendela village in Mpongwe.
In a related development a 22 year-old man of Solwezi died on the spot after being hit by a vehicle along the Solwezi- Mwinilunga road at Kambenja area near Methodist church, Solwezi.
The deceased has been identified as Lloyd Mangisha of Mangisha village in Solwezi district.
Kanjela says all the drivers in the three accidents have been charged with causing death by dangerous driving.
Meanwhile, Police in Lusaka have discovered a decomposed body of a man believed to have murdered his elder brother on 22nd January,2013.
Kanjela says the body of Brison Chibala Tilimuka who is believed to have murdered his brother John Tilimuka on suspicion of bewitching his son discovered in Situmbeko area and that it is believed he took poison as an empty tin was picked from the scene.
She says it is believed the deceased committed suicide the same day he axed his brother to death.
In another development a 10 year-old boy died after drowning in a ditch in Lusaka’s George compound.
The boy has been identified as Gift Mbewe of house number 23/03 George compound.
