Activists for the secession of Barotseland held ‘dark corner’ meetings on Friday to strategise the 21-day ultimatum Lozi youths have given President Michael Sata to withdraw government administration from Western Province.

Meetings were held in Mongu, Sesheke, Kaoma, Livingstone, Lusaka, Senanga and Shangombo on how to implement their decision of seceding from Zambia.

President Sata, during the September 2011 campaigns promised the Lozis that he will restore the Barotseland Agreement 1964 within 90 days of his election, but has lamentably failed and is now dodging the contentious issue.

Lozi have vowed to have nothing to do with Zambia and some of its activists recently tore apart copies of the draft constitution 15 of which have been arrested.

The activists are saying nothing would change their resolve to pursue self rule.

“The people of Barotseland have ressolved that they will take on the government of Zambia,” one activists, who described the dark corner meetings as successful, said.

“We have agreed to defend the people of Barotseland and ka-o-ngolo ka Nyambe the Litunga and the entire Barotseland Royal Establishment cabinet.”

The activists are also sending an appeal to police officers, soldiers, airmen and other security wings from the region to protect the interest of their relatives.

Claiming that 60 percent of personnel in the Zambian security wing are from their region, believe it can count on its loyal son of daughters in pursuit of independence

The 15 activists that were detained in connection with the torn copies of the draft constitution have been denied bail in their malicious damage case.
