The Lusaka magistrate has found a woman who stashed K3.6 billion on her body as she attempted to fly out to Dubai with a case to answer.
Lusaka principal resident magistrate David Simusamba found Edah Mkandawire, 46, with a case to answer after the prosecutions adduced evidence to support a charge of being found with property suspected to be proceeds of crime worth about US $700,000.
She is jointly charged with a Pakistan national Ashafak Mohammed, 30, who is also charged of being found with K87 million cash which is also suspected to be proceeds of a crime.
Edah was arrested with US $700,000 which was nicely wrapped on her body as she attempted to fly out to Dubai from Kenneth Kaunda International Airport. She claimed to have been a messenger of Mohammed to deliver the money.
Magistrate Simusamba said the prosecution has adduced enough evidence to warrant putting the duo on defence.
