Power Dynamos won the Samuel ‘Zoom ‘ Ndhlovu Charity Shield after beating rivals Zanaco 2-1 in the season curtain raiser at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka.
According to bolazambia, Lubambo Musonda scored in the 35th minute to put Power in the lead but just a minute later enterprising Rodrick Kabwe struck for Zanaco to level scores.
Power waited for 10 minutes from full time when winger Kennedy Mudenda found the target to identify themselves with the Charity Shield title.
The two top sides Zanaco and Power Dynamos were Zambia’s inter-club envoys but only the former has remained in the CAF Champions League while the latter dropped out of the CAF Confederations Cup at first hurdle.
Zanaco was using the match as a test ahead of the CAF Champions League first round, first leg fixture against Collins Mbesuma’s Orlando Pirates while Power The win helped console Power who now put their ejection from the continental front behind them.
