Given-Lubinda-greeted-by-supporters-pfPatrotic Front (PF) Kabwata Member of Parliament (MP) Given Lubinda, who was recently sacked as Minister of Foreign Affairs has said he has suffered enough persecution from fellow party members and those behind his humiliation would soon “meet their waterloo.”

Lubinda made the comments to Lusaka reporters on the sidelines of Palm Sunday, a Roman Catholic procession that is celebrated to mark the majestic entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem. He said politicians and PF members in particular must take this Easter period as a time for reflection and reconciliation.

He said the Easter period was time to realize that those who persecute others shall be defeated while those who are humiliated shall emerge victorious.

Lubinda said those with evil intentions against other people must seek God’s forgiveness for being bad people in society.

“I equally would like to urge those being persecuted to pray to God so that he can give them strength to stand against those who are plotting evil against them,” he said.

He said there it was hypocrisy of the worst order for anyone to pretend serving humanity when they were busy fighting other leaders.

He said the PF had persecuted him for doing nothing wrong adding that his troubles were being sponsored by a disgruntled clique of individuals plotting evil in the party.

Lubinda said the experience of being ostracized from the PF he fought for very passionately had taught him a lesson that there was victory even in the midst of suffering.

He warned that leaders must not focus their efforts on persecuting others to the extent of wanting to kill critics in order to maintain their grip on power.

He said Easter period must allow leaders to realize that power must never be abused because it was not a permanent right but it was borrowed responsibility.

Lubinda said he was following in the footsteps of Jesus Christ who was humiliated even by those he served, but the son of man remained calm because all the offences allocated to him were false.

“How can you claim to provide true service to the people when you are painting everybody black except yourself. I urge every politician being persecuted to pray to God s that he can give us strength to stand against those we know have evil thoughts about us. This period is relevant to me because it tells me that even in suffering, there is victory,” he said.

Recently, Lubinda faced clarion calls for his expulsion after it was reported that he was leaking party secrets to the opposition United Party for National Development, the party he belonged to before joining the PF. Lubinda was suspended for six months and the ban stops him from performing or participating in party activities while President Sata stripped him of his ministerial position.

But during the interview, Lubinda said every dog had its day and his day of victory would soon come. He said he had forgiven all the people behind his persecution because they did not know what they were doing.

“I have been persecuted for doing nothing, but my day of victory will surely come. My situation is like that of our Lord Jesus Christ who was persecuted and he resurrected with triumph after that. I have also been persecuted, but these things have only given me strength and victory will surely come,” he said.
