Justice Minister Kabimba Says Corruption is Widespread in PF Government

While the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) is investigating allegations of corrupt activities involving Defence minister Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba (GBM) and Justice minister Wynter Kabimba, the later has accused other cabinet ministers of practicing corruption to recoup their contributions to the PF campaigns last year.

Contrary to the statement by the ruling party’s media and publicity director Chanda Mfula who said there was no strife among PF ministers, Kabimba took an indirect swipe at GBM, who is also a wealthy businessman, accusing him of wanting to recover what he spent as contributions to the PF campaign before last year’s elections.

One of the PF campaigners Mike Mulongoti who resigned from the MMD to support President Sata has complained of ill-treatment by the PF leadership.

He said he spent a lot of time, effort and money to help usher into office the PF government, but they have not said a mere ‘thank you’ to him.

But Kabimba has asked Mulongoti to issue him a bill which the party will pay.

He told The Post newspaper that many other cabinet ministers were eager to corruptly reward themselves for their contributions to the PF campaigns.

“Mulongoti is not the only one. Some of them are senior members of government, some of them are senior members of the party. They are going round singing the song that they can engage themselves in corrupt activities in order to recoup the money which they put into the PF. We can’t accept that as government and we can’t accept that as a party. So, to save the situation, let them tell us how much they put into this party and we shall pay them back as the party,” he said.

Kabimba said President Michael Sata did not owe a ‘thank you’ to all members who put money into the campaigns.
