Dramatic scenes yesterday characterized the parliamentary session as opposition MPs booed Justice Minister Wynter Kabimba and he stood in a point of order to encourage other MPs to discuss corruption issues openly.
MPs mostly from the UPND, booed Kabimba and instead chanted pro-GBM slogans.
Kalomo UPND member of parliament Request Muntanga shouted “GBM! GBM! GBM!” during Kabimba’s address as other MP’s joined in.
Kabimba however downplayed the chanting and went on to encourage MPs to condemn corruption even if a minister was involved.
Kabimba said MPs should not be afraid to speak out on corruption matters.
“When you are talking about corruption, you must not whisper. Speak out even if a minister is involved,” he said, as Kasenengwa MMD MP Victoria Kalima shouted “President in waiting” in support of Kabimba.
