Electoral Commission of Zambia(ECZ) spokesperson Cris Akufuna says a follow up is being made in reports that Vice President Guy Scott breached the electoral code by allegedly conducted a political campaign rally in Lukulu West during the filing in of nominations of candidates for the by-election in the area.
Akufuna has explained that it would be an abrogation of the Electoral Conduct of Conduct if any political party in the country conducts a political campaign before the filing of nominations of candidates is done.
He noted that under the Electoral Law, political campaigns only commence at 15:00hours after all political parties have filed in nominations.
Akufuna has also reiterated the need for all participating political parties to conduct peaceful campaigns in Kapiri Mposhi and Lukulu West constituencies.
Dr Scott conducted a rally in Lukulu West after the PF candidate in the area had filed but during the time the UPND candidate had not finished filing his nomination. In Kapiri, tourism minister Sylvia Masebo breached the electoral code by storming the nomination centre with 500 PF thugs as opposed to the mandated nine party members.
