Opposition Movement for Multiparty Democracy treasurer Mwansa Mbulakulima has refuted assertions that the former ruling party is on the verge of bankruptcy.
Mbulakulima, who is also MMD Chembe Member of Parliament, says assertions that the former ruling party is broke are merely political propaganda.
He says the party would not have embarked on the nationwide tour dubbed “New Hope Tour” if its coffers are running dry.
Mbulakulima has further said his party’s participation in the 13 out of fifteen local government by-elections scheduled for Tuesday next week is another proof that the MMD is still financially sound.
He adds that the strength of a political party is not measured on the basis of how much money it has but the membership.
