Government has dispatched a team of experts comprising mainly of officials from government, United Nations (UN) and NGOs to the forty four districts were hunger is looming to assess the situation.
Deputy Minister in the Office of the Vice President, Davis Mwango says the experts are expected to come up with a concrete report before the end of June on which areas are mostly stricken with hunger.
Mwango says government is working hard to make sure that they supply enough relief food to the affected areas on time.
He says the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU) is aware of the looming hunger situation in about forty four districts.
Mwango says the DMMU is working hand in hand with the UN and other NGOs to ensure that the affected areas are supplied with food as soon as possible.
He adds that government is yet to identify other areas which may be affected with hunger.
The deputy Minister adds that some of the money to address this challenge will come from the contingent fund.
