Opposition Movement for Multi Party Democracy vice president Michael Kaingu says he finds it strange that Patriotic Front Secretary General Wynter Kabimba made a Kr 25, 000 at a church in Feira Constituency where a by-election is looming.
Kaingu said it was sad that a few days after MMD suffered the nullification of Chipata Central MP Reuben Mutolo Phiri on grounds of his having made a cash donation to a church during the 2011 general elections.
“We find it strange that the PF General Secretary or whatever they call him went and made a cash donation to a church in Feira Constituency of K25 million (old currency) when the Chipata Central was nullified for that reason. It appears that there are double standards, “he said.
Despite the date for elections in Feira Constituency yet to be set area has witnessed a lot of political activity with money- a commodity usually available to rural voters at poll time flying around.
The Feira Constituency by-election was necessitated by the resignation of area MP Patrick Ngoma who defected to the ruling PF from the MMD.
