sunday chandaPatriotic Front supporter Sunday Chanda this morning needed police escort off the University of Zambia (UNZA) Radio Station where his remarks in support of the removal of subsidies angered students who camped outside the studios waiting for him.

Chanda, who heads a PF sloganeering Non Governmental Organization called Speech for Growth, was made to publicly apologize to the students as the police ushered the fear-ridden official out of the studio.

The former MMD member who contested a by-election and lost in 2011, according to observers, could end his public appearances after the UNZA ordeal. He may never go to UNZA for a live programme.

Earlier on the programme Chanda had trumpeted the PF government’s record prompting angry students to mobilize themselves to confront him outside the studio.

The students said he had to apologize to the many mothers who feel the high cost of living hardest as they try to scrounge for food for their households.

A sheepish looking Chanda apologetically gesticulated to the students as he mumbled his apology.

The removal of subsidies has proved a highly emotional matter with students staging protests over the matter.
