Zambia Begins Build Up to COSAFA Cup

Chishimba-KambwiliSports minister Chishimba Kambwili has launched the count down to the 2013 Cosafa Senior Challenge that will be hosted by Zambia.

During the launch at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka today, Kambwili said hosting the event
would help Zambia showcase its beauty beyond sports.

“The Cosafa Cup provides us an opportunity to showcase what our country is capable of; that we will be good hosts of the Africa Cup in 2019,” Kambwili said

“The benefits of hosting the championship are immense. They include creating a better image of country, exposure of our footballers, enhancing local management skills, enhancing Zambia’s position as a potential sports tourist destination, providing inspiration for youths to engage in sports as well as generating direct and indirect economic activities through employment and revenue for country.”

Zambia is set to host the regional championship that will attract participation from 14 countries with Kenya and Equatorial Guinea taking part as guest countries.

The touranment will be held across three venues and will take place from July 6-21.
