Zambian Air Force (ZAF) Commander Erick Chimense today told Vice-President Dr. Guy Scott that a newly acquired military presidential helicopter will be ready for use soon.
The ZAF commander, also told Scott that the Air Force has also bought 8 new war helicopters, four of which were already in the country. Chimense even invited Scott to take a look at one of the sophisticated military helicopters.
He said four of the eight fighter helicopters had been flown in the country while another four were yet to come.
After admiring the helicopter, Scott said he would get one of them as part of his retirement package.
President Sata already uses an expensive and exquisite gold courted helicopter bought by the late President Mwanawasa as well as a presidential challenger jet bought by Frederick Chiluba.
President Sata who always flies between State House and the Airport has been heard complain that the presidential helicopter is not comfortable.
He once asked ZAF commander Chimense that he prefers flying on the privately registered maroon helicopter which was also used by former President Rupiah Banda.
