The Supreme Court has upheld the election of United Party for National Development Kaoma Central Member of Parliament Carlos Antonio.
Losing Patriotic Front MP Enock Maseka had challenged the election of Carlos but the High Court had thrown out the petition with costs and the PF member’s challenge has been put to bed by the Supreme Court.
The seat was one of over 50 the ruling party had contested and lined up in their quest to increase their numbers in parliament.
So far the PF has either enticed opposition MPs to join through the promise of deputy ministerial jobs or petitioning the seats in court.
President Michael Sata is seeking a majority in legislature so that he would push laws favouring to the ruling party.
