Fred M'membeA community radio station Radio Macha in Choma has accused The Post Newspapers of unprofessional conduct after the PF aligned private newspaper published an article on Monday saying opposition United Party for National Development leader Hakainde Hichilema was blocked and attempted to pay Kr 4,000 to feature on a live interview.

Radio Macha station manager Mastone Moonze says the article by The Post was not only fabricated but hijacked.

“The opposition leader never said he wanted to pay Kr 4000 to our staff so that he is allowed to go on air but only wanted airtime charges for his interview with us and also Mr Hichilema never said that he wanted to talk about the removal of fuel and Maize subsidies,” he said.

“We find it very unprofessional for the Post journalists/editors to allow such a story which was incomplete to run in their tabloid. We say its incomplete in the sense that the story was one sided where they needed a view of HH or any member of the entourage.”

Moonze explained that Hichilema was unable to feature at the time he appeared at the station because of some programmes that are sponsored by clients who came from as far as Lusaka and Livingstone.

“Hence the time HH visited our station, it was not going to be possible for us to sideline the scheduled programmes without notifying our clients, therefore we requested the opposition leader to bear with us,” he said.

The Post has notoriously preyed on opposition political party leaders under the PF regime covering anything that will put them in bad light but has mostly fabricated stories against them.

Todate, the newspaper which plays a key role in the public relations department of President Michael Sata has never apologised for claiming former President Rupiah Banda and his wife Thandiwe had differed for some missing US $36, 000 when the latter was not in the country.
