The Lusaka Magistrates Court has refused to release the passport for Fourth Republican President Rupiah Banda to allow him to travel to South Africa where he due to attend round table meeting for former heads of state.
Banda was invited by Boston University and was due to travel on Tuesday for the meeting where all his travel arrangements had been made.
Chief Resident Magistrate Joshua Banda said it wsa only the High Court that could alter the bond conditions.
He said the application had been brought before a wrong court.
Earlier Banda had adjourned the matter to the afternoon.
Banda has been grounded by the PF government and has not been allowed to travel despite the court having released his passport in earlier occasions.
