richwell-siamuneneOpposition United Party for National Development has challenged its expelled Sinazongwe Member of Parliament Richwell Siamunene to withdrawal his court case to prove his popularity in a by-election.

Party chairperson for agriculture Request Muntanga said Siamunene had already been campaigning for the by-election before he was expelled but had surprisingly gone to court.

“Siamunene has been singing that he is very popular but why has he gone to court? He says he carries the people with him so what is he scared of? He is clinging on to a seat by court action,” he said.

“He has found his voice after being expelled. Siamunene spent a long time in parliament without speaking a word and now all of a sudden he is the most vocal MP.”

He added: “Siamunene should just accept that he chose to honour his pocket and now he is failing to come to terms with his decision.”

The Sinazongwe parliamentarian is one of four opposition UPND MPs that have accepted deputy ministerial positions without their party’s blessings.

UPND has expelled Siamunene but he has challenged the decision in court.
