ChipolopoloThe Zambia national team has dropped on FIFA / Coca-Cola World Ranking to stand at 49th in the world and 7th in Africa according to the rankings released on Thursday in Zurich, Switzerland.

Despite maintaining the 7th place which they ranked last month, the former African Champions have now fallen 3 places to rank behind Jamaica and Costa Rica.

According to Zambianfootball.co.zm, the results of 30 friendlies up to 2nd June have been taken into account for the current edition of the FIFA Ranking, with the results of the FIFA World Cup qualification matches on 4th June to be included in the next edition.

Zambia’s 0 – 0 away draw to Namibia was a match which weighed against the Chipolopolo who will look to collect maximum points against Lesotho and Sudan in the next two weeks to brighten their chances of qualifying to the World Cup.

Lesotho, Zambia’s opponents on Friday moved two steps up and are now ranked 153rd in the world and 40th in Africa, while Sudan stand at 39th in Africa and 135th on the global rankings.

Ghana have moved above Brazil on the world rankings to stand at 21st in the world and 2nd in Africa.

The upcoming FIFA Confederations Cup and the latest round of qualifiers for the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil™ will ensure plenty of movement in the next edition of the FIFA Ranking.
