Zambia Reclaim Group D Lead After Huge 4-0 Win

FAZ PictureZambia reclaimed the lead at the top of Group D after defeating Lesotho 4-0 at Levy Stadium in Ndola in the qualifying series for the World Cup set for Brazil in June 2014.

Netherlands-based striker Jacob Mulenga scored two goals while captain Christopher Katongo and Collins Mbesuma added a goal apiece to seal the win and take Zambia to 10 points relegating Ghana to second place on nine points.

Ghana had won their installment against Sudan on Friday night to take an overnight two point lead, The Black Stars will travel to Maseru for the weekend fixture against Lesotho while the Zambians will host Sudan on Saturday.

The final games of the group stage will be played in September when Zambia will travel to Ghana. Winners of the group will qualify to the last round of 10 where a knockout will be played to determine the five teams that will represent Africa at the World Cup in Brazil.
