Chongwe Member of Parliament Sylvia Masebo has admitted that Patriotic Front cadres were planted at the funeral house for a gunned Kampasa area resident where mourners and a journalist were harassed.
Featuring on Muvi Televsion’s The Assignment Programme, Masebo said illegal land allocation had continued under the Patriotic Front government.
“What HH did not know is that all the people surrounding him icluding the person who took him to the funeral house were party officials even if they were not in party regalia,” Masebo, who is tourism minister, boasted.
“As he was talking they must have been texting each other you know these days with technology. So what I heard is that before HH could leave a bus of cadres arrived at the scene and when they got there HH had already got into his car to leave. He drove off and there was also William Banda who was with the person shot who survived and had castigated government that is when the fracas ensued.”
Masebo said PF cadres had taken the lead into taking over land as demonstrated by a politically connected Mr Goma in Chongwe area.
“Since the PF took over they did not take over an orderly government and unfortunately these are the issues that are continuing unless as a government we become firm on these matters we shall have even a worser situation,” she said.
“But here is Mr Goma (a politically connected Chongwe resident) who goes there to masquarade as PF when he has no position in PF, he is not even in the branch, he is a member of PF because he has decided that he wants to benefit.”
She said, “I think that he was trying to use the party and he was hoping that he could intimidate ZNS and they say ni boma iyi remember the boma ni boma syndrome. So this is boma even if someone is doing wrong ni boma iyi you just have to leave him but in this instance ZNS made it clear to him.”
Masebo said Goma had said since the former ruling party MMD had got 50 hectares, the PF was also entitled to 50 hectares.
“He (Goma) said I have a letter that more hectares were given to PF. He said that 50 hectares was new and was for PF as the other one had been for MMD. I (Masebo) said what PF are you talking about. He showed me a letter from the PS defence where he had applied to PS defence saying we are PF give us 50 hectares,” he said.
Zambia National Service has come under severe criticism for brutally killing two residents over a land wrangle on the outskirts of the capital Lusaka.
